Last night I made lamb chops from the farmers market, and potato leek soup, the day before I baked a bunch of pumpkin muffins. No one ever said that seasons changing shouldn't be tasty.
I ordered a bunch of spices last week. Apparently they will arrive tomorrow, along with my new camera. Then more food pictures.

Andrea made me read this author's story about a magician when I was working on my story the Disappearance. I enjoyed reading this essay in the times today so I thought I'd share.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who's wished me a happy birthday. I usually am pretty mellow about my birthday, except for liking to go out with friends for dinner or otherwise do something nice. But most people i know don't live in seattle, so I'm not sure what I'll do this year... Buy a lobster maybe? I have yet to figure it out... if you know of any fun birthdayish things to do in seattle, let me know.

First off, I'm writing to express how amazing it is that my grandparents are celebrating their 75th Anniversary today. We had the party yesterday, and all of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were there, as well as two of my second cousins and their children. In total 15 people in this picture are direct results of their getting married and having children. Not only have they been married for 75 years (they got married at 21, and 22) but they have known each other even longer than that. My grandfather apparently gave my grandmother her sweet 16 party. May we all get to celebrate close to that many years with someone we love.

So i'm awake when i really shouldn't be because I start my new job tomorrow and have to wake up early. But life never works in such simple ways, so instead of sleeping i'll just reflect over what I've been doing recently. Recently I made a website ( http://katskill.net ) which i wanted to devote to my writing, but instead has mostly been about cooking. That's okay, Maybe i'll actually go back and read things of mine, and that would be good. I have cooked more than i've updated the website with, mostly out of laziness. Made an all vegetarian (just for fun) potato leek soup with some leeks I got at the farmers market, and some butter milk biscuits. For breakfast tomorrow I made chocolate chip bannana muffins. At least I can console myself with the fact that I cook really well, and people enjoy what I make, but I wish I felt the same way about my writing these days. I'm definitely on a post nanwrimo dry spot.

I decided that word counts were just distracting me from actually writing... So I went ahead and wrote
NaNo is over... I will now become a hermit for a few months while I edit.

I have been procrastinating. I only broke 6000 words today. I need to pick up the pace a little to get to 50,000 by the end of the month

2187 words and counting. Will be posting about every thousand words as a motivational tool

As per the rules of nanowrimo, i'm not editing anything this month, that means some things may start getting repetative as I figure out better ways to explain things. Rather than post all 50,000 words once I write them, I'm going to give you little tidbits as I move along. This should also help me stop procrastinating. I also downloading this handy little program which some of you writers out there who are using word, or even just a basic text editor might enjoy... it takes away the distractions, which is a good thing...

Magic was like having a third arm, only a much less naturally coordinated than your other two. In fact, you probably wouldn’t even know it was there unless someone pointed it out to you, and once they did that, you could start to take those wobbly first motions. After a few months until maybe, if you were really dedicated and focused, you could turn the knob on the faucet without having to take your other hands away from the dishes or whatever else you were doing, but most people found this effort to be way too much effort for the result.
